New 2017 Jeep Wrangler at Boardwalk Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for Redwood City, CA

The 2017 Jeep Wrangler is the one you've seen on the roads with dual doors and room for four passengers, which contrasts with its sibling, the Wrangler Unlimited, which is seen with four doors and can incorporate up to 5 passengers. New for 2017 is the Cold Weather package which has heated seats, all-weather floor mats, a remote start, and fog-lights. The Wrangler in 2017 has a tow hook on the back end as standard as well as a convenient USB port inside, a pair of tow hooks on the front bumper, and new LED headlights. The 2017 Jeep Wrangler got its start as a reliable Allied munitions and troops mover during WWII, and continues today in new ways unthinkable back then!

Under the Wrangler's Hood

On the 2017 Wrangler, an available 5-speed automatic transmission with Hill-start Assist and Hill-Descent control appears, and there is the 6-speed manual with Hill-start Assist as standard. The Wrangler has standard high- and low-range gearing, plus, it has four-wheel drive. The engine inside is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with 285 horsepower with 260 lb-ft of torque. The 2017 Jeep Wrangler can be further outfitted with certain ratios (3.21, 3.73 or 4.10) and more, depending on the model. The 2017 Rubicon utilizes a practiced transfer case with a low crawl ratio and short gearing to get it past the rough stuff. In Edmunds testing, a manual transmission Wrangler zoomed from 0 - 60 miles per hour in 6.9 seconds!

Design of Jeep Wrangler

The Wrangler in 2017 appears with four centralized models- the Sport S, Rubicon, Sport, and the Sahara. Inside you will find AC, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, satellite radio, and a helpful 115-volt outlet. The 2017 Jeep Wrangler has a choice of two body types: the Wrangler Unlimited (4-doors) or the 2-door Wrangler, which we are going over presently. There are a couple of offshoot branches as well that are based on those models. All Wranglers have the potential to be selected with either a soft top or a hardtop (body-color or black for hardtops). The Sport model has a height-adjustable driver seat, hand-operated mirrors and locks, a compacting, tumble-forward seat in the back, a tilt-only steering wheel, 16-inch steel wheels, full metal doors with crank windows, a fold-down windshield, foglights, skid plates, on/off-road tires, a full-size spare tire, removable doors, tow hooks, cruise control, and an audio system with 8-speakers (plus a CD player/aux port). The Sahara model has hood insulation to reduce engine noise, 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic LED headlights, extra painted body panels/trim, AC, the Power Convenience Group items, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, LED foglights, and nearly all of the features of the Sport model. The Rubicon model adopts many of these features, then installs an electronically disconnecting front sway bar, custom tires, a heavy-duty Dana 44 axle (for both axles), rock-rails, 17-inch alloy wheels, and more.

Conclusions

All 2017 Wrangler models are designed standard with Hill-start Assist, anti-lock brakes, advanced multi-stage driver and front passenger airbags, traction control, electronic stability control with a hydraulic assist brake booster, and a 'Sentry Key' engine immobilizer to deter theft. The Sport and Sport S models gain the LED Lighting Group, which brightens the night using both LED fog lamps and LED reflector headlamps. Front-side airbags are options for any model past the Sport trim. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety stated that a 2017 Wrangler, in the moderate-overlap front-impact test, scored its highest rating of 'Good'. How can anyone really resist the pull of a Jeep Wrangler? We're not sure about that either here at Boardwalk Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, but what we are sure about is that if you want to test drive one with us-- we're ready to go!
